Green City Life
Copenhagen is known for being Europe’s greenest city. A fun fact which becomes apparent fairly quickly. The city is a bike heaven and offers a unique way of exploring a city.

STAY

We came for a long weekend and decided to stay at a beautiful, well located Airbnb in the Norrebro area. The neighbourhood is perfect for first-timers as you are surrounded by cafés, shops, restaurants and bars.

Looking to rest your head at a trendy hotel (who isn’t?), we recommend staying at Hotel Sanders. IA Tip: Ask for the beautifully designed room 404 and enjoy a bubble bath or drink in the rooms adjoining lounge area. Other lustworthy stays include the The Apartment (a interior design lovers dream), Hotel SP34 (which also offers a great restaurant, The Audo, Hotel Ottilia, The Krane (for sleek perfection), Hotel Danmark, or Hotel Alexandra.

EAT & DRINK
Something you won’t forget
Whatever your friends have told you about Copenhagen’s food scene, we can assure its even better than you would expected.

Right around the corner from where we were staying was the wonderful Mirabelle. Our mornings started with a sensational coffee (trust us) and a croissant at the lovely bakery/café. You’ll see locals swarm to Mirabelle. You can grab your order on the go or stay and have a relaxed start into your day.

Visit Café Auto or Granola, for its delicious brunch menu and the people. The avocado toast at both spots is delicious. Coffee-stops are always best made at Coffee Collective, Democratic Coffee, or Sonny. From brunch to lunch to coffee: another must is the Copenhagen stable Atelier September (for more avocado toast).

For lunch we recommend a visit at Torvehallerne Street Market for a mix of different culinary styles. Les Trois Cochons, Les Voyageurs, Italy, Musling, District Tonkin, and Väkst are other great lunch options.

For dinner Restaurant Gorilla is an absolute must. Located in the Vesterbro area (Copenhagen’s meatpacking district), full of fashionable people during the night, we had a vibrant dinner paired with one too many cocktails. The atmosphere will make you smile right from the beginning and the food will leave you coming back for more on your next visit. Around the corner, you’ll also find Fleisch. For the world-famous Noma spinoff, Restaurant 108, we recommend making a reservation prior your visit.

Other great culinary-spots include: Apollo Bar & Kantine, Baest, 42 Raw, Kul, Pastis, FAR’s DRENG, Jah Izakaya or Sticks’n’Sushi. (But truly, the list goes on.)

One more thing we’d like to share: Pluto. Not the planet, but rather the restaurant located in the København K area. It’s among our favorites and an absolute must try.

Drinks are best served at the laidback Lidkoeb in the Vesterbro area, which boasts multiple storeys of cocktail bars. IA Tip: Snag a spot at the whiskey bar, offering more than 200 bottles, on the top floor and try their whiskey tasting menu.

SEE & EXPLORE

Much of our exploring revolved around our culinary journey of the city and lots of shopping, as the Danish really do it better.

For a touch of culture, check out the Kunsthal Charlotthenborg, National Gallery Museum or the Design Museum Danmark.

If a bit of retail therapy is more your speed, your first stop should be the Acne Archive - a must. If you still need your fix, stop by Stine Goya, Black, Studio Travel or Ganni. Vintage-finds are best made at Jerome Vintage, Timesup Vintage or Roxy Klassic (for a superlative selection of vintage homeware). Han Kjøbenhavn and Legends offer cool menswear finds. Hay House is great for homeware trinkets and Frama Studio for everything from clothing to kitchenware.

Copenhagen is definitely city to get lost in. Our best finds were made this way.
